Unveiling Gaudí represents my personal interpretation of Gaudí’s architecture—one that seeks a more subtle, almost hidden side, as described by photographer Aitor Ortiz in his project Gaudí, Impresiones Íntimas. As an artistic photographer, my aim was to create diptychs combining nude photographs with images of Gaudí’s iconic buildings. This juxtaposition is meant to highlight the sensitivity, delicacy, and natural beauty embedded in his designs, which often lie beneath the surface of his work.
But why Unveiling Gaudí? To unveil means to discover, to reveal what was once hidden. This is exactly my approach: to expose the essence of Gaudí’s spirit by pairing his bold architecture with the human form. Gaudí’s work is often described as excessive, colorful, and saturated—architecture that can seem strange, even to those, like myself, who prefer simplicity. Yet, despite my personal preference for cleaner, more minimalist designs, something about Gaudí’s architecture captivated me. This curiosity is what drove me to explore his work further, to uncover why it resonated so deeply.
